Mango fly larvae feed on the soft tissues under the skin, and while they can infiltrate muscle as well, it’s not very likely. Boils will form wherever the parasite has made its home. After they burrow in, the larvae will live and feed on soft tissues for two to three weeks. ![]() Once the larvae make contact with the host mammal, they will burrow painlessly under the skin.
